President: Keeps the swim team and meets running smoothly along with the Head Official.
Attends League meetings.
Treasurer: Keeps up with the check book and paying bills due as a result of running a swim
team.
Head official: Keeps the swim team and meets running smoothly along with the President.

Starter: Basically an MC for the home meets. Announcing over the microphone each event
and heat, calling false starts when necessary. Training available.
Stroke & turn officials: Watching the swimmers as they swim for stroke violations. This job
needs some training as you must be familiar with what mistakes will cause a swimmer to be
DQ’d (disqualified). Training required.
Timers: You will be supplied with a stop watch and positioned at the end of the lane. When
the starter signal sounds you start your watch and carefully stop it when your lane’s
swimmer touches the wall. There is always one timer from each team in each lane.
Bullpen: Using the heat sheet to call for swimmers and line them up on the benches in order
of their event, heat and lane assignment.
Staging: Leading the swimmers from the bullpen area to the area behind the starting blocks
keeping them in lane order.
Runners: run time sheets from timers at the pools edge to the computer station Home meets.
Ribbons: Periodically throughout the meet, place stickers for event ribbon winners on the
back of the ribbons provided by the home team.
Parking lot patrol & swimmer mark up: At home meets checking that only eligible officials
park in lot by pool, others park on streets nearby. As swimmers come in (at all meets) you
mark their arms with their name, age and events they are swimming. You will need a
swimmer line up sheet and 1-2 Sharpie markers, fine point. This is a 30 minute job and may
be combined with another.
Concessions: This team purchases, sets up and runs the concession stand during the home
meets. There is a variety of choices, some prepackaged, others include delivered pizza,
grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, even cheese nachos. These decisions are left to the team.
Computer Team: Work the computer desk by entering the meet results into the system. The
team will output reports throughout the meet
Set-up: Meeting at the pool at 4 pm for home meets only to rearrange the pool deck for the
swim meet. Check bathrooms, positioning flags and concession stand, anything needed to
prepare the pool for the meet. You are finished before the meet begins.
Clean-up: Home meets ONLY. After last event you will put the pool deck back to it’s typical
arrangement. Empty all trash cans and place in dumpster, return all flags, banners, etc. back
to the upstairs storage area. Place all heat benches at back of grassed area. Anything else
to clean up and put back pool area.
Social & Banquet: Planning for the banquet at the end of the season, purchasing the
trophies, planning any special event such as ribbon ceremonies, etc.
Team Wear: overseeing the ordering of swim suits, t- shirts, towels, etc. New swim suits are
chosen every other year, on the 2nd year of a suit there are still new swimmers needing
suits and some needing replacements.
Sponsor Coordinator: Handling the paperwork, questions, etc. for the sponsors of the swim
team.
